As we start a new School year with all of the excitement, hope and energy that it brings, I would like to take just a moment to reflect on the incredible journey that we have been on in recent years, and in particular look back briefly to the past School year.
The history of All Saints Episcopal Day School reflects meaningful relationships between the parish, school board, administration, faculty, staff, parents and students. Our current success is driven by the strength of these relationships and it will always be a high priority for us to nurture these as we continue to focus on building even stronger bonds, centered on our tradition of academic excellence and spiritual commitment to our All Saints family.
When preparing for the year ahead, I reflect on the year that has just passed and I am nearly overwhelmed with the multitude of positive accomplishments, changes, and overall growth that has taken place.
Beginning with our Annual Fund, it is no small task in this economy to exceed a financial goal and yet, because of the dedication of our families, friends, faculty and parish, that is exactly what we did! We are grateful for the generosity that helped us surpass our goal of $125,000 and raise nearly $147,000! Monies raised through this fund bridge the gap between tuition income and the school’s actual operating expenses, allowing us to address our most pressing needs, demands and opportunities; it is these philanthropic dollars that really help us grow our school and take the game-changing leaps that have led us to be one of the top schools in the area.
In June we celebrated the graduation of our very first Eighth Grade class and we are so proud that they have moved on to outstanding high school careers. We wish them well and look forward to news of their successes and to their return at future All Saints alumni gatherings!
It has been a particularly busy summer as we have been updating and making improvements to our current facilities in preparation for opening day. We have expanded the Saint Nicholas Center with the renovation of the third floor into two new offices accommodating eight work stations, including a dedicated admissions office and conference space where families will begin the first step in becoming part of the All Saints community. In August, a family and staff work day helped refresh classrooms and renew grounds to welcome our new and returning families. We have also seen the installation of Smart Technology in every classroom, bringing to a close a five-year goal in our commitment to technology.
Growth indicates success and we are pleased that not only have we grown our facilities, but our staff as well, with the addition of seven new positions. We welcomed a full time Director of Admissions, and a part-time Grounds Keeper this summer, and in September we welcomed two First Grade Assistant Teachers, a Second Grade Associate Teacher, a Third and Fourth Grade Assistant Teacher, and an Academic Enrichment Teacher. Student enrollment has also increased, with more than 220 students in our school this year! We are on the threshold of an exciting new school year and we look forward to watching our students discover the joys of learning and witnessing the blossoming of their character as students of the world.
Please accept my warm welcome and best wishes for the exciting school year ahead.
