Bidding for a Cause

Jill Singleton
On Thursday, March 22, our school community will come together for our annual Parents’ Association Spring Auction. This longstanding tradition has played a critical role in our school’s growth and development. At All Saints, as in most independent schools, we are faced with the challenge of keeping tuition competitive while offering an exceptional educational experience for our students; the cost of tuition alone does not cover the operating costs for the school, and so the philanthropic support of our families is integral to the success of the school and to our students’ academic experience. This support is most directly and profoundly felt through parents’ support of the annual fund, but is also important through their support of and participation in fundraisers – none more so than our Spring Auction.

Fruits of auction labors from past years are everywhere to be seen at our two campuses: the playground equipment at both schools, our attractive new signs and related lighting welcoming visitors to both campuses, the SMART Boards in all First-Eighth Grade classrooms used to enhance learning everyday, and the fleet of laptops used by our Third and Fourth Graders are just some of the many wonderful gifts that were purchased with monies raised by the Spring Auction. So why should you attend?

• The Auction is a celebration of community – our parents, teachers, classes, and businesses from the greater community have donated auction items.
• The Auction is an enjoyable night out – spend a Thursday evening on the beautiful waterfront, with spouses, friends, and other class parents.
• There is truly something for everyone – from foodies to sports aficionados; from wine connoisseurs to art lovers—there will be the opportunity to bid on a wide variety of items.
• The Auction is for a great cause – our students benefit from our support and contributions!

As is our tradition, proceeds from the auction will be used to purchase items on our wishlist. This year’s items include:

• SMART Easel/Table for Early Childhood
• SMART tools (clickers, accessories, document camera for all grades)
• iPads
• Digital Cameras and accessories
• Financial aid/scholarship fund

Tickets are on sale now, and can be purchased through our website via PayPal (no PayPal account needed) or reservations can be taken in person at either707 Washington Streetor at the Saint Nicholas Center.

In order to make this auction a success we need your help. Please consider doing the following, if you are able:

1. Buy your tickets sooner rather than later.
2. Spread the word: invite friends, family and neighbors to come.
3. Share the event on your facebook page & email the flyer to friends
4. If you have an amazing auction item you would like to donate, it’s not too late, please contact Kathy Vergel at kvergel@allsaintshoboken.com

Line up your babysitter and reserve your tickets for a fabulous night out on the town!
