Heading to High School!

Jill Singleton
Well, it’s official – our first-ever Eighth Grade graduating class will be going on to some extraordinary high schools! Although they are still weighing their choices, this “fearsome five” has shown that they have what it takes to get noticed by some of the area’s finest schools.

Here is a list of high school acceptances:

• The Calhoun School, NYC
• Elisabeth Irwin High School (Little Red), NYC
• The Nightingale-Bamford School, NYC
• Convent of the Sacred Heart, NYC
• Grace Church High School, NYC
• York Prep, NYC
• Loyola School, NYC
• St. Peter’s Preparatory School, Jersey City, NJ
• Hudson High School, Hoboken
• St. John’s College High School, Washington, DC

We had no doubts that our students would fare well. They are intelligent, self confident, interesting individuals who demonstrate a true love of learning and a definite desire to be a member of a high functioning learning community. Throughout the entire application process we were impressed with how prepared and engaged our students were. In their Eighth Grade Advisory Class, students reflected on their talents, accomplishments, and challenge areas, and created their own digital portfolios to share with the schools to which they were applying. They benefitted from preparation for the Independent School Entrance Exam, researched the schools to which they were applying, created meaningful questions to ask of the schools, practiced interviewing skills, and more. We received very positive feedback about their visits, and have every confidence that they will continue to do us proud wherever their high school journey leads.

Congratulations to the class of 2012!
