All Saints Episcopal Day School opened in 1985 with an enrollment of 16 preschool-age students. These founding parents took a leap of faith and made a special commitment to the school’s mission. In June of 1997, we graduated our first class of Fourth Graders.
In the 2004-2005 school year, the faculty, board and administration began to work seriously toward earning its accreditation from the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools. In the spring of 2007, the school was visited by an evaluation team for an extensive review. In the spring of 2008 we celebrated the award of our accreditation by the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools! This important credential serves as evidence to the larger community that our school meets or exceeds standards and criteria for institutional integrity and excellence.
We learned a lot about our school and community through the process of accreditation. Perhaps one of the most important things we learned is that our parents were sad to leave us after fourth grade, so after completing a series of focus group discussions, we made the exciting decision to expand into the middle school. After a year of study and research, we started our middle school with a class of 10 fifth graders in September, 2008. With great accolades, we graduated our first group of Eighth Graders in June of 2012. Since then, our outstanding graduates have been accepted to some of the top schools in the area, including Convent of the Sacred Heart (NYC), Nightingale Bamford School, The Calhoun School, Loyola School (NYC), Xavier High School, St. Peter’s Prep, The Hudson School, and many others.
In order to house our growing enrollment, in January, 2010, we moved into a beautiful renovated building owned by our parish. The St. Nicholas Center, at the corner of Sixth and Clinton Streets, now houses Nursery, Pre-K and Kindergarten classes. As we continue to expand, we have once again outgrown our space. In Spring, 2012, our board conducted a feasibility study for a building development project. In May, 2012, we entered into a formal agreement with Build with Purpose to provide the construction of an addition to our facility on the Parish’s property at 707 Washington Street. These are exciting days at All Saints, as we complete this construction project. We also boast a rise in submitted applications for admissions, as well as a second section of Second Grade. We are thrilled to see what the years ahead hold for our community and for the enthusiastic students who call our school home.
